we are thinking of going to zante in may, has anyone got any recent experience regarding prices etc., due to the financial situation with the euro and greece.

Well, the pound's risen against the Euro since May last year (it's around 1.19 as against 1.14), and likely to stay that way, so you'll get more for your pound. And Zakynthos is one of the cheapest islands in terms of eating out, drinking and partying, etc.

thanks rojosh, we've done all the trips before so ,as you say, food and drink should still be pretty well reasonable. as long as the sun shines, at least that's still free.
I last went in 2009 and found everyday items very expensive - as was eating out, although it obviously depends where you go.

Greek beer (I always drink Mythos, wihch is excellent) and wine still cheap compared to the UK.

Avoid Laganas at all costs - it is places like this that give Brits abroad a bad name.
