PC connection problem

Hi,
I have a problem that when I use the ADSL splitter and attach the PC cable both the phone and internet won't respond. When I take out the PC cable the phone does respond. Also there is no Internet light on the wireless box.
When I connect the wireless box to the phone socket direct and use a twin adapter I can use both.
Any ideas please.

Thx

Sounds like you need a new splitter to me. BB providers often supply 2 when you join up, otherwise they are not difficult to buy. Worth getting one just to rule it out or solve the problem, anyway.

Thx for the advice O.G, but I've used 6 different splitters all with no effect.
OK then you'll need to trace the problem elsewhere. Are you able to try a different modem/router ? Alternatively can you take your kit to a friend's house and try it there ? (Admittedly that would involve setting up for the new situation/phone number though, which is a bit offputting).

I'm also wondering if the wall socket is a bit dodgy, that inserting the phone alone, for some reason, doesn't nudge something out, but the splitter plug loses the connection. Maybe a loose connection there.

Can only really suggest experimenting, try to 'tie down' which bit of kit has the problem.
Do you have a second wall socket that you could try ?
Can you remove the front of the socket? If so, there is a test socket inside that you can plug your splitter into directly.

I must have an old socket. There's nothing to put ADSL cable in directly.
I think if you unscrew and take off the front of the box on the wall you should see a 'test' telephone socket inside (rather than an ADSL soocket). Worth trying to see if plugging it in directly avoids the problem.

Thx for all the replies. Seems that the DSL cable was knacked.

Ah: glad you solved it.
