Luckily my man is just as when we met, but if your otherhalf really let themselves go, and health probs weren't to blame, just laziness, would you tell them? If say they really gained weight, dressed slobbily all the time, bad hygiene maybe, or would you worry about upsetting them?

I guess a polite word might be in order... maybe from the safety of the shed roof or whilst in the car with the engine running...
snags.....LOL.

Too bloody right i would......pull yourself together or I'm off.
Then again 'let he who is without sin cast the first stone'...
If it was purely weight gain probably not, but generally people don't stop washing etc unless there is an underlying problem like depression- so yes but not in a way that would be likely to add to the problem.
Why would I?
We have mirrors in our house.
Fit as a butchers dog the, squad ?

lol snags. I do know somebody who whenever they first meet a man they dress great, look fab etc, but as soon as it gets serious they live in slobby tracksuits, gain a couple of stone and end up splitting up. then they go on a diet, dress upand start the process all over again!
quite often people who "let themselves go" could be feeling down and depressed, I would be trying to help and support them. If its purely a comfortable rut then I would probably get both of us involved in some sort of sport/walking/health kick
I guess X Box and nachos wouldn't be in that list cazzz...
depends how you said it really... making sarky jokes or shouting at them and bullying is out of order

but gently asking them if they were ok is expected i suppose

of course some peoples 'letting go' is just normal to other people

i mean if you dont intend to go out or see people for 2-3 days and dont bother to wash and style your hair or do your makeup, or if you spill a drop of food on your top and dont rush off to change instantly, that can hardly be said to be letting yourself go... but to some people it would be an outrage.
Yes I would in a nice sort of way.
as a weekend treat snags yes, everything in moderation and all, it cant be all hard work and no play..
Xbox n nachos are as sporty as golf.
dont start mick..
True... and you don't have to dress up like a pudding...
You don' have to dress at all.
A lot of things make persons loose interest in themselves, Work, stress, Illness, redundancy, Marriage break up, bereavement, metal health problem, it has all to do with the circumstances, but I would try & direct them.

I really am talking about general laziness. if the person is their usual self personalitywise. they may class is as being comfy but you would class it as lazy.
If that was the case I would tell the lazy sod.
