lol get ready for hundreds of ... 'I'm sick of the Olympics' threads

I know how hated Seb Coe is on AB (loads of Sugar about him on here)

But his victory in the 1980 Moscow games is my favourite memory.
Having lost the 800 metres he shown some great resolve to come back and win the 1500.

And remember this, Coe 'haters' ..... he is the only man in history to win 2 golds in the greatest Olympic event.

Memory is not my strong point :-)
mine was Ovett beating Coe in the 800m, i always preferred him
Zola Budd tripping up Mary Decker-Slaney.
Beaman, Long Jump, Mexico

"Beyond the limit of the measuring equipment" - so they had to find a tape measure - broke World Record by over two feet (60cm for our younger viewers). Not bettered for over 20 years.

watching the opening ceremony (from somewhere!), where there were hundreds of people on the field, doing the same movements. It looked amazing. (I was only little).
With all the high tech shenanigans these days, i still don't think you can beat it visually.

I liked them both bibble but when they raced side by side it looked like watching Nijinsky V's a Blackpool donkey.
Graeme Obree competing in the cycling on a bike he'd made out of old washing machine parts always stands out in my mind!
Watching Rebecca Adlington win 800m freestyle.

A memorable moment as we had some Aussies staying with us at the time who were fed up with the Poms getting so many medals. When Rebecca won, the Aussie guy made some rude comment about her looks, and at that moment the cat, who'd been sleeping peacefully on his lap, stretch and dug his claws right in where it hurts the most. Yayyy!
Dick Fosbury at Mexico.
Kelly Holmes (twice).
Watching Olga Korbut, she was such a sweet little thing with a huge grin

I don't hate Seb either.
Alan Wells for me!
No "sick of" from me. I love the Olympics and all that goes with them except the cock ups I suppose.

Can`t choose one memory but always loved to watch Steve Cram running.
Lillian Board in the 1968 Olympics.....................I cried.
Come on, crafty, she wasn't THAT bad... ;-)
No Mark but she was the favourite to win and was of the same generation as me (we were actually born in the same year) so I desperately wanted her to win. To me she was the epitome of a female athlete.
