Confused about what happened

For about 2 years me and my ex have been in contact, I contacted him and he kept it going. Over the past few months he's confessed that he wants me back and that he's in love with me and wants only me and we were soulmates. We met up back in June and it was great, we got on so well and we both thought it felt so right. He's in a relationship and so am I but we are both so unhappy and just want each other, or so I thought. End of August after a great talk on the phone, he went quiet. I texted a few times and had no reply. Today I texted him asking what I had done wrong and he said nothing, but he can't be with me. I really don't understand it. He said he doesn't even know how he feels anymore. I'm so confused on why this is happening so suddenly, he went from loving me to not even wanting to know in a month. Please can somebody help me understand? We are both 25 by the way. Thanks for advice or help!

He didnt love you sweety, dont you get it? He was/is playing you. He is an ex. Ex's should remain ex's. Your ex was getting tired of his current gf so he came running back to you, obviously because he has you pegged well. Probably went cold on you again either because he and current gf made up or because he has his eye on another woman entirely. Try to be realistic ratherthan so easy to play. He is an ex and should remain that way. Or are you just going to always be his bit on the side every day time he is between relationships?
