Have you ever been?

My mum wants me to visit as she has lived there for a few years now. It has not really appealed to me before, I don't like hot weather much.. I prefer temperate.

Please persuade me to go, or on the other hand warn me not to, depending on your experiences.

I would be going to Rishikesh, which is in the North.

thanks

Spent a year or so there and loved it - quit dithering and get over there! You'll love it, you'll get treated superbly, eat well and see stuff you could only dream of at home.

Of course, the weather varies hugely from season to season so you can time your visit accordingly. It is one of those "once in a lifetime" things you hear about.. go on, you know you want to !

This is supposed to be in Travel, sorry
i went for two weeks a couple of years ago, it was great! we went in october, so it wasn't unbearably hot. it's a real experience, completely different from europe & america, and one that you shouldn't pass up. the food is fantastic! i can't express how fantastic a time we had.

I'm assuming your mum's a bit of a hippie (meant in the nicest possible way). Rishikesh is Yoga central, close to the river Ganges, and the location of the Beatles famous visit to their Guru where they lost it (or indeed found it) for a while.

If you are a spiritual kinda person then it's the place to be. If your not that kind of person then there's more than enough to assault the senses long enough to keep you distracted.

In short, I would say GO!
