/// The current syllabus, previously attacked for being too politically correct, will be scrapped with the intention of giving children a deeper understanding of history. ///
/// Secondary school children aged between 11 and 14 will move on to 50 wider topics about the modern world, including Soviet-U.S. relations and how they shaped the world, as well as the influence of immigration on British society. ///
As well as the influence of immigration on British society
Now that should be the real test, if they have managed fully to get rid of 'political correctness'.

The link reads ‘200 key British figures’ – not ‘200 great Britons’ – although, of course, there have been many more than 200 great Britons. I seem to recall you saying that you are a non-indigenous inhabitant of these shores. Perhaps a Citizenship test might benefit you.

History was very poorly taught when I was at school 35 years ago. I see little evidence that it is any better now. The problem is that it is a subject that almost invites political meddling from both left and right leaning Governments. This latest bit of meddling will not make teaching of History better in the slightest, it is just more misguided tinkering
Not sure how political correctness comes into it. If by that you mean children are taught about the slave trade then rightly so. It may have been a stain and embarrassing, but it happened and children should know about it.

/// What would you like the new syllabus to say about the influence of immigration, avoiding political correctness, aog ? ///
/// What would you teach children about immigration, British foreign policies post-World War II, and especially politics in the 70s and 80s? ///
What do you wish me to do, enter a thesis on the subject?
What would be the good it would be so long that the majority would not read the whole of it, and if they did they still wouldn't be swayed away from their own preconceived ideas.
