And from my great love of American sitcoms, i'd say it sounds about right.

can be but their big turkey fest is in two weeks time (yesterday) for Thanksgiving and very nice that is as a holiday as it is not commercial......also acts as a platform for the kick-off to Christmas re decorations/shopping and all the rest.
As they have eaten turkey already, for Christmas, they frequently go for a large roast rib of beef, goose and other dishes (more so than we do) - the other thing is that there is often a lot of side dishes reflecting their cultural heritages too.

In America the traditional Christmas dinner is roast turkey with vegetables and sauces. For dessert it is rich, fruity Christmas pudding with brandy sauce. Mince pies, pastry cases filled with a mixture of chopped dried fruit.

I think ,like us, in the USA they have mastered the art of freezing veg, enabling them to have green beans at Christmas. One of the traditions in fact is a horrendous concoction of green beans and condensed mushroom soup topped with grated cheese. Also sweet potato baked, mashed and topped with brown sugar.
There you have whatever cuisine you so wish.........for a very nice ambiance look at the Capital Club.....the hotels also do really good Christmas buffets - go for one of the better chains like the Four Seasons, the Ritz Carlton or the St Regis as they are more special - and not outrageously priced for what you get.
