About Manchester, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1930

This data collection contains marriage records and marriage banns from Church of England parish registers in the Diocese of Manchester, from the original registers deposited at the Manchester Libraries, Information and Archives. It includes the areas of Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Rochdale, Stretford and Trafford, Ashton-under-Lyne, Oldham, Leigh and Rossendale.

It should be noted that some churches continued to record marriages in composite registers after 1753 and therefore you should also check Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812.

Noticed new on FMP is the 1831 census for Hallam, Sheffield.

wish more of those would show up, they were a census of just the head of house but there can be some detail like address and occupation that could help, no ages taken either though it was run by the church and there were variations depending on the diligence and interest of the church enumerators
