Religious Perks.

This is one of the main reason I've become really anti-religious in the last few years. These parasitic practices are way beyond the live-and-and-let-live attitude one should be able to apply to religious Beliefs.

Interesting article, wildwood. Not exactly sure what revenues are sheltered by the tax status for religions in the UK.

I know the defenders of the charitable status of religions say it is only fair because of the cost of their charitable works - but I am not so sure, myself..

Example... The Marmite factory in Christchurch NZ was destroyed in the Earthquakes 2 years ago. A jar of Marmite reached unreal prices on auction sites. An enterprising fellow thought to tide Society over until the factory is rebuild, get some of that much loved stuff from the UK. The massive Sanitarium company that pays no tax because it exists to help people through it's charitable status, decided that this was not on and took legal action to force the small time importer to dump perfectly good foodstuff. How hypocritical is that?
