This woman's father fought in the American Civil war!! Although it appears that her father was in his 80s before he fathered her.

HOW FAR BACK CAN WE GET WITH ONE GENERATION?

I'll start. My grandfather is 88 and his mother was born in 1896.

probably on the wrong tangent here, but FIL is 79, don't know when his parents were born but both are now, obviously, deceased.

Ah, no, I misunderstood - my grandmother was born in 1879. she was 30 when my mother was born.

Just to explain - the first person must still be alive. Now see when their parents were born.

Eg My grandad is still alive but his mother was born in 1896.
In the article the lady is still alive, I don't know when her father was born, but I am guessing it was about 1848.

My eldest brother now is 79 on Monday ( the eldest brother only died recently at 84 )
My Dad was born 1903 .My Mum in 1904 .

My Mother is 88 and still going strong and smoking like a trooper! I still remember my grandfather although he died when I was 14, which is 50 years ago

My grandads sister is still alive. She must be 89. I haven't got a clue when their parents were born though.
