I think it's far more how you are brought up rather than how you are born but your natural personality does come into play. The thing is if an unstable child is brought up in a stable environment I think it's less likely to become an unstable adult, but if a stable child is brought up in an unstable household that becomes normal so you pass down the problem.

I don't think anyone is 'evil'. But I do believe that some people are born with their brains wired the wrong way which makes them carry out 'evil' acts. Other develop into nasty human beings.

i think you are born "blank" and what happens to you on your way makes you act the way you do. i don't think you are born evil, there is always a choice.

I think it unlikely the neurons are already connected at birth to be "evil", no matter how "evil" is defined. I guess there may be a genetic propensity to start to join up to make an "evil" individual though. It's always so difficult to separate nature from nurture causes.

I just look at my mum and her siblings. None are evil but they are all completely different. Same parents, same upbringing. I believe we are born with personalities, some personalities are not nice. I suppose a bad upbringing would enhance the night so nice personalities.

I dont think you can always blame an upbringing - what do we know of Hitlers formative years? anything there to suggest what he became?

I think some people possess naturally more negative personality traits than others; aggression, lack of compassion etc etc. If not addressed correctly by sensible parenting then a problem could develop.

Others behave a certain way due to experiences in life; if someone has gone through school unmercifully bullied, that could bring out undesirable behaviour later in life -depending on how they cope with that.

There was a really interesting study done by a fella who looked at the brains of psychopaths and also a gene known as the 'warrior gene' - turned out he had both these things too but unlike a lot of the people he studied came from a good and stable home. So it seems both nature and nurture could be the answer...I asked a question on it actually in Science, 'ang on, I'll look... it was quite fascinating (well I thought so but I'm a bit of a geek sometimes).

Agree Ummmm.

I have 6 siblings. We all have the same Mother and Father and had exactly the same upbringing. But there is one sister who stands out as completely different to the rest of us, who are all by and large well grounded. She's far from 'evil' but she is a live wire. She's the only one who's been in trouble and she is a pathological liar. Nurture can not explain everything.
