I was watching Autumnwatch last night and Michaela Strachan commented that the osprey fledglings "had been rung".
Gordon H Bennett! This is the BBC for Heaven's sake! Can someone please educate the woman that the word is "ringed"? (Unless, that is, Michaela or one of the Autumnwatch team actually telephoned the chicks - in which case they would have been rung.)

Micheala Strachan comes across as being just a little bit bonkers, so it is possible that she chats to ospreys on the phone.
As long as she didn't say 'wrung'!
One of this year's ospreys has a GPS transmitter - perhaps it phones in....
