How do i find an ex-directory phone number?

when we had our phone number changed a few years ago I tried to phone home but I'd forgotten the new number, I rang the operator and told her my name address and post code but to no avail, I then asked her to phone my wife and verify who I was before putting me through and the answer stayed at NO.

When I worked as telephone operator, when someone asked for an ex-directory no, the supervisor would take their details and call the number for permission. If the ex-directory wanted to accept the call they would be put through, but were never given the number.

Thats correct manilow but that was back in the days of ex-directory calls offered, which is a service that no longer exists - sorry bubblegirl you'll have to write to them

I work for 118-118 and if a number is ex directory the number doesn't even show on our system
