Guess Where I Haven't Been?

To the local government office to renew my license plate. I renewed it whilst sitting in my house coat, having a cup of tea, and puffing on a cigarette. No shuffling line-up; no people bumping into me; no having to listen to people complain to the clerk; and no having to drive there and back in the pouring rain. Aint computers great? No big deal (as someone famous once said); however, I thought I’d share it with you.

But when the price of cigarettes went up so high that I couldn't afford them I gave the coat to an Oxfam shop. I like to think there's someone sitting somewhere enjoying their Capstan Full strength wearing it.

In the UK, do you have to renew your vehicle license, or a sticker to go on it, every year? Mine costs $90 which is about 49GBP. The renewal date is your birthday.

You can do it six-monthly or twelve-monthly (it`s cheaper to do it 12 monthly). It can now be done online and there are rumours that the tax discs are going to be discontinued in the future.

We can get ours for one or two years, and the two year one is $180, so no saving. What does it cost you for a year?

I`m not sure stewey because I haven`t taken much notice - I just pay it when it is due. I think the price is linked to the cubic capacity of the engine and maybe the age of the car.
