Code Breaking
One day, a French spy received a coded message from a British MI6 agent – it read S370HSSV-0773H.
Unable to decipher the message, he sent it to his superior who was equally stumped as to its meaning. In turn, he sent it to his Russian counter-part, who was also unable to work out the meaning of the message.
The Russian spy forwarded it to the Germans, who cracked the code.
The Germans advised that they had received the same message from Britain during WWII; the solution is obtained by inverting the message.
