Portsea Island Smaller Than Hayling Island?

Being born in Portsmouth I was puzzled to find out that Hayling Island is bigger in size than its neighbour Portsea Island is this really true as it looks the other way round

As a resident of Hayling Island, I don't know, but would be interested in the answer. Like you, I think Portsea looks the larger, assuming it refers to the total offshore land mass, and not just the parish of Portsea which I believe is a lot smaller.

I presume you're talking about acreage, not population !
According to wikipedia, Hayland island is only 12 square miles.
I used to live in Cowplain and I think that is correct, although there is a lot packed onto Portsea Island.
