We are moving house later this month. I have a number of mirrors, pictures, etc, hanging up which we want to take with us. Does anyone know if it is a requirement to remove the screws / nails / rawlplugs and fill / paint each hole? If so, what happens if I can't match the paint?
Thanks. Still a little confused though as each answer contradicts the next one. All I need to know is that if I take a picture off the wall, do I need to remove the screw, take out the rawl plug, fill it and then paint it. It's going to be a real balls ache if I do.
I think these sorts of things differ from country to country. In the UK as long as you don't wreck the place I'd not worry about it. As folk have said, it's possible the incoming owners might appreciate the hooks and screws already up. If they don't it's no big task to remove them. They'll probably redecorate some stuff anyway.
Your lease should specify; if it doesn't check with your landlord, you don't want to lose your deposit.
I've seen leases that prohibit banging nails and screws in to walls without permission; that's why those Command strips are so popular
