Is anyone else appalled at the amount of garbage which has washed up onto these beautiful Pacific Islands? They make English beaches look positively pristine. I think manufacturers of plastic bottling, etc, should be held responsible for making this non-biodegradable junk.

Unfortunately there are 'garbage patches' made up mainly of plastics in several areas of the oceans. It's stuff that gets caught in a vortex due to currents - which wouldn't be there if we cared more about chucking rubbish anywhere.
