Sorry all if this seems a very stupid question, but does it matter if I vote for a different party in the local & parliamentary election today, or if I don't vote in the local election at all? I know who I want as Prime Minister, but have no interest in or knowledge of my local candidates. I should know this by my age but I don't actually know if the local candidate votes affects who gets in to No 10.
Thanks

No, you can vote for whoever you wish. If you think the local politicians have done OK in your area and they are of a different party than the P.M. of you choice, it doesn't matter, you can still vote for them.
^^^^^^ You can equally not vote for any local politicians, sorry, should have said that.

Thanks jourdain2. Just off down the Polling Station now.
Soapy....you can vote for anybody you want, in any Election ! As long as you don't vote UKIP, its OK (!)
and you don't have to vote at all.
// but does it matter if I vote for a different party in the local & parliamentary election today, or if I don't vote in the local election at all?//

yeah of course it matters

they find out by comparing the votes of course

and you know the Mad Dentist - you know the one who drills teeth w/o local ? well they send him around .... ( to you of course )

so watch it over the next few weeks - and dont open any parcels !
No your local vote doesn't affect who gets into No10, it will affect your LOCAL council how your area is run. For Example our local Labour council are not brilliant, care homes have been axed and our council parks dept. cutting grass and trees ect is dire. Our Police Commissioner (Labour) has demanded more and more for the Police while other vital Services are in need of money. If you want to vote for your local UKip candidate his voice in Parliament may help to drive down the mass immigration that is still happening here.
askyourgran....you are entitled to your views but voting UKIP will have no effect on anything whatsoever, let alone immigration, as they won't end up with enough MPs to be effective.

If immigration from the EU bothers you, and it cleary does, there is only one Party that will be in a position to change things, by bringing in a referendum on Europe, and that is the Tory Party. Voting UKIP is a wasted vote.

And that is as far I am ever going to get to promoting the Tories !
just a point of pedantry, but you are never voting for the prime minister anyway
