Things Calais Migrants Say To The Cameras & Journos
60 Answers
Rather than one thread on each, I thought a compendium thread would prevent clutter. Examples so far:-
"I am a bio-engineer" (Egyptian; presumably left his certificates at home. I would like to be a bio-engineer myself. Can I just walk to SE England and claim to be one, too?
"My wife and children will be in trouble if my face is seen" (East African with back of head to camera. Claims to be a dissident).
"God wants us to be here" (African. Country of origin not stated. BBC coverage 31/07/15)
"…because I speak English, no French" (paragraph of mostly broken English). No real hardship to start any other European language from scratch, given the basic attainment achieved with English, so far. Half the planet has command of rudimentary English. This should not have any weight as a criterion upon which to base choice of country of settlement.
So, what migrant quote caught your attention? Please mention what TV channel your quote was gleaned from. Normal news links also welcomed.

yeah I caught that
I think it is something to do with muslim strong pre-determination
che sera sera fortissimo
this denies free will but engages God's knowledge of the future
[ the saudi king said of 1000 people crushed to death during the Pilgrimage in 1980 - they would have died at exactly this hour if they had not been on a pilgrimage ( therefore he didnt have to do anything about it)
and the last time i wrote this those Who Should Know Better commented

How is it, the country has a very serious Issue regards these people in the port of Dover, the Uk Has a very serious problem regards Immigration & the , Illegal's, How is it SOME people in the UK know there is a problem regards the Schools, Housing, Hospitals, Jobs, & yet you have the " I feel sorry for them Bridgade" Will these " Do Gooders House, feed, Clothe, Support these people?"
Well done to samuraisan, Svejk and peter_pedant for actually replying with migrant quotes, as I requested.
I'm going to do an AOG now and ask the rest of you at what point in my OP I expressed any sympathy or gave any hint of "I feel sorry for them"-ness about the purpose of this thread.
As I have established in other threads, many of them are skiving from national service in their home country. They claim to be dissidents but leave their family behind. If a government persecutes a person as a dissident, they generally know the very basic stuff, like where they live.
There are some women with kids in the camp. They might be more convincing as refugees but only handfuls in number.
So, what I was looking for is examples of absurdly ambitious or cloud cuckooland things that migrants come out with. Just trying to understand their mindset… in more detail than just greed, arrogance, sense of entitlement etc.
I was hoping to work the thread towards finding signs that they *know* we don't want them here. Knowing but pressing ahead anyway shows how little they care about us and our concerns and has an undercurrent of belligerence about it.
I dare say the Geneva convention has *nothing* to say about unarmed invasions.
