about 177 quid.

The UK = 'Treasure Island!'
Possibly because they don't care enough about communicating with foreigners to get ripped off while doing it. Rosetta Stone is grossly overpriced.
US price is probably pre-tax and UK price inclusive of VAT. Still quite a difference though.

Talbot, not: what's the difference but why. :-)
Prudie, would Linguaphone offer better value, do you think?
They call it "Geo-marketing".

A group of software, music, film and OS companies were dragged before the Aussie government a while ago and questioned over pricing.

They claimed they had the right to charge what they thought people would pay and if we weren't happy with the price, we don't have to buy their product.

All very well with somethings but who can live these days without certain operating systems and some software?

Stuff you download from the net is horrendously expensive here.
Something lost in translation?
Not tried it Sandy but do have RS. I can say things like the woman has brown hair a blue jumper and a black dog and lives in a house. I can't make everyday conversation though. I suppose it depends what you want it for.
Sorry; this course. Is it to speak English ?
Wow! I had no idea it was anywhere near as expensive as this!
Yeah, sorry Sandy.
You get this sort of thing with europe too. centerparcs and the euro tunnel are cheaper to book if you say you are in europe.
This is the same cenerparc same date for 7 nights.

I see Linguaphone are offering a beginner to advanced course for £195. That's not cheap but better than RS.

How often have you had the chance to say 'the woman has brown hair a blue jumper and a black dog and lives in a house' Prudie?
If you are only just starting with a language, sandy...there is plenty of free stuff to start with. A CD course is also an option.
Question Author
About as often as we might say: My postillion has been struck by lightning, I'd reckon. ☺
Question Author
I might make a start with the BBC basic French course and see how it goes. I'm looking more of a winter pass time than to gain any fluency.
As long as you learn how to ask a waiter if they have "frogs legs" Sandy.

And tell 'em to hop to it and bring you a drink.
I'm doing a three england language cause at the moment and its not going to bad.
snigger @ Talbot ;)
Never Talbot so its a useless skill
