Trademarks

Everything we buy is made by a company and all companies have trademarks.  I know these are registered at the patents office but to search on these you need to know the number or the text.  But what if you only have the picture?  Some can be recognised, but they change over time.  So how do you find the company which owns the picture you have seen?

Any suggestions gratefully received.
