pond50 - my condolences to you on the loss of your mother. I've taken the liberty of emailing the BBC with a request for the information, so as soon as I hear anything - positive or negative - I'll post back on this thread. Hopefully I'll hear from them tomorrow, the girl on the phone seemed hopeful that queries are answered quite speedily.

On that date she sang a song from this album, check the tracks out.

Please accept my sympathy too pond50.x
Mamyalynne's beaten me to it!

Confirmation that the song came from 'Gently' can be found here:

All the tracks can be sampled (and then downloaded in MP3 format, for 99p each) here:

I know it came from this album I just don't know which song. Thanks
You don't know your Mum's favourite song? How do you know it was her favourite, if you don't know what it is?
At a difficult time like this unless anyone can find it, I'd advise choosing one that you think fits with your memory of her from those listed.
Condolences pond50. If your mum's name was Shirley or she wed the guy next door, the song would be Ring Them Bells

If you go on Buenchico's link, which I have again posted, if you go down to the 'Play' icon just underneath Liza's picture, you can sample 30 seconds of each track on the Gently album.....just hit the Forward icon to proceed to the next track...this is FREE as you are only sampling the album and you can identify your song from there.

Was a nice cut featuring Donna Summer that she released as a single.....dont think it did much but nice all the same.

Hit LISTEN to play it

what a nice thought....may your mum rest in peace xx
If you dont know the song yourself, then Lie-in King's kind offer will be the best way of identifying the tune x

Thanks for the kind comments mum was 94 I wish I had asked her at the time what the song was but she liked all music except classical
Fingers crossed that LIK's contact with the BBC brings news tomorrow.
pond50 - I'm sorry to say that I've still heard nothing from the BBC but have been checking my inbox frequently every day in hope.

May I ask which day this week the funeral is on?

Please accept my apologies if it becomes too late to use any info I might get & in any case, I hope that everything goes as well as you could hope for.
As already said she sang from the album gently.
Yes but we need the actual song Gav, hence LIK has contacted the BBC.
Just trying (sometimes very trying) to be helpful!
The only song off that album that was a single was Does He Love You? (Featuring Donna Summer).

Funeral on Wednesday. Thank you all so much for your help
pond50 - I just had the following from the BBC -

"...Just to let you know that it’s taking a bit longer than normal to reply to your enquiry – we’re really sorry about this!

It might be a few days yet, but we hope we can help.

Thanks a lot for your patience."

I'm really sorry the info hasn't come through in time, though I'm sure you've come up with something that your mum would have liked to hear. I'll be sure to post any further messages I get from them, if for no other reason than to - hopefully- satisfy our curiosity!

All the best for tomorrow :-)
