The giant heros (Father and Son) created by Franois Rabelais in his " wildy obscene humourous" works "La Vie de Gargantua et de Pantagruel" which comprised of 4 books printed between 1532 and 1552 (a fifth book appeared subsequent to his death almost certainly not written by Rabelais) Rabelais was a monk and a physician, but in his writings he celebrated his real loves: scholarship and drinking. His books were banned by the Catholic Church and later placed on the index librorum prohibitorumon.
