I'm 20 And I Want To Be A Scuba Diver But I'm Afraid Of What Would Come In The Future. I Don't Wanna Be A Loser

I'm about to ruin my life or, I'm about to start a successful life career ! I still don't know. I'm a Moroccan students, an english major, in my first year university, I past my exams and I've succeed in all subjects, even though I felt good after my first year, I always think about my dream job (to be a scuba diver)
I was raised to fight for what I want to be and what I really want to do, and I want to achieve that dream, In our culture here you get judged for what you are gonna do and what you would be in the future, I didn't know if there was a school or university that teaches scuba diving till yesterday, I will be judged for what I will do, but I want experienced people to lead me to the right way, I won't care about what others would say/think as long as I will be confident and sure where I'm putting my feet, so all I need is to tell me where can I work? What I have to know? Does it has a future? (I don't care about the amount of money I would gain as long as I would be happy

So she had qualifications to fall back on if needed. As it happens she got the diver job she wanted after Uni. I'd suggest you do something similar and ensure you have options when you opt to follow the career you prefer.

Retrocop, I don't know you, do I? I call it 'sinking'.//
naomi I don't quite follow what you are saying.
I only suggested BASC was better training on the advise of two colleagues who were instructors at the Marylebone BSAC branch. They trained novices at the nearby Seymour Baths. I recall one saying that BSAC qualifications entitled their divers to go deeper than PADI!!! Make of that what you will but I was discussing dive limitations as far as depth restrictions imposed around the coast of Malta/Gozo.
Of course they have to show loyalty to their organisation but I know they don't do a quick 3 day DIY drowning course for holiday makers around the Med. :-) I sailed and crewed for them but never took up their invitation to dive, alas, due to blast injury to my ear.
I think most jobs in diving, whether scuba or saturation, are repair work. You are a tradesman under water. There is nothing wrong in that of course, but it isn’t quite the Jacques Cousteau world that some might imagine. I agree with others, get your grades and then you have options if it isn’t for you.
If I had my time again I would join the Royal Navy and try to get into Underwater Demolition and Mine Clearance.Got your ticket provided when you go back to civvy life and are paid whilst being trained. Never out of work in that branch. They do the annual inspection on the sunken munitions Liberty ship off the Thames Estuary. Also see the world.
Not my area of knowledge at all but you don't get paid just for being able to dive. You need to know which field you then want to work - marine biology which would need biology qualifications, oil companies which might need geology or engineering skills, running a dive school which would need finance to start or working with police or forces. Just some examples.
