it's just that my mate claims the 'Nutshell in Bury St.Edmund' is smaller. Any thoughts?
I put this into google, and they both came up as Englands smallest pub, how about a draw?

Splitting hairs maybe but I believe the difference is that "The Smith's Arms" is England's smallest public house and "The Nutshell" is Britain's.

That answer doesn't work cetti since both pubs are in England one of them must be the smallest pub in England and in Britain
It makes perfect sense to me, but then we see things differently in Dorset ;-)

I am also of the belief that The Smiths Arms is the smallest pub in the land!

Altho am a Dorset girl!  We get our victories where we can, however small!

I've been in the smallest pub in Wales, It is a front room somewhere but not sure where, no help then am I?
ieatbees, why not contact the two pubs in question, and ask the Landlrds for the dimensions?.
Yep. It's the Nutshell in Bury St Edmonds.

The Nutshell is Bury St Edmunds has signs/T-shirts etc saying its the smallest- guess it depends what you measure it on? bar area size? or the actual size of the building itself?

From memory the nutshell has a room upstairs - so maybe it bigger overall than the other but has a small bar area if you see what I mean? Its definately very small!!
