Ban The Bagpipes- The Devils' Instrument
54 Answers
I had the misfortune to visit one of my clients in Princes Street Edinburgh earlier today. She has a very smart office overlooking the gardens with superb views to the Castle and the Old City. However, this was totally countered by a lone bagpiper standing a good 600 yards away, huffing and puffing into his bloated tartan cushion and even through closed double glazing that grating, shrieking, whistle got through and set my nerves on edge for the entire interview. How is it permissible in a civilised society that we have to endure a terrible cacophony (similar to the strangling of a flock of pregnant sheep) in the business district of a city? Is this an infringement of my human rights to peace and quiet? Is it acceptable that my earspace is invaded in this way? Does anyone actually enjoy this instrument? Or are you, with me, of the belief that these discordant and deafening Caledonian inventions will be (unlike harps) the instruments of hell? Ban the burkha is so 2016...let's ban the bagpipes.
