One of my clients passed away today. He was a squadron leader and flew a spitfire in the Battle of Britain. Such a lovely gentle man. I will miss him, I have become very fond of him over the 14 months I have cared for him.

Ratter......who is he?
I am sorry to hear that Ratter, he sounds an interesting man. May he rest in peace.
I imagine he was a fascinating man to know - it's joy to get to know someone with such a history behind them.

Sqad, I cant say at this point, he has only just passed away. Confidentiality etc.
Sad indeed Ratter.
O.K
One of the few who fought for our country. RIP.
I hope he had a good life after the war?

It was amazing then, that the pilots were so young, 20/22 maybe younger, can you imagine it today?
Sorry to see your sad news, Ratter. I'm sure you're left with some good memories & tales to tell.

RIP Squadron Leader.
I'm sure your gentle man was cared for very well ratter, :-)
Doesn't matter who he was. If he flew a Spitfire in the Battle of Britain he is up at the top of the list of heroes. A little more of a hero, I would suggest, than the bus driver who managed to swerve round a jogger who had been pushed into the road (who is also being described as such).
Lie-in King.
How do you know he was a squadron leader?
Because Ratter mentioned?
Eccles.....thanks...so he did.
aw.. sad..bet he could tell a tale or two..nothing but respect for these brave men... never before has so much been done by so few for so many..how true..RIP sir x

Fabulous RATTER...thanks.
what a nice unassuming chap
Can I just throw in that it wasn't just men that flew Spitfires. Female pilots delivered them to where they were required. A dear friend lost her mother when she was just a child due to a malfunction when delivering a Spitfire.

Whilst not wanting to denigrate the gentleman in question it is worth remembering there were heroes and heroines.
Question Author
He was a very quiet man and never saw anything special in what he done. One of the nicest people I have ever known and it was such a privilege to have cared for him to the end. A sad day indeed.
