I can't help, but I can sympathise with you. Even the chatterbank on here seems like a secret society. I tend to just post or answer post's in the other catagories on here which I enjoy very much by the way. I think it boils down to confidence. I suspect like me you are a listener rather than a talker. I have never done this but I think the answer is to find a chat room you would like to join, go for it, and ask what it's all about. I am sure someone who likes to talk will explain.

Good luck!

Hi leo - try the following:

There are different 'rooms' for different age groups and interests so hopefully you could find something suitable.

Good luck!

You could do worse than come and visit our small (30) but select group.

Can I just say that CBer are delighted for one and all to come to cb...You've just got to take the bull by the horns

And it's slower than other chat rooms, so that can make life a bit easier.

And I won't mention names, but go onto CB and ask about feeling left out at being older. There are people there older than you who will be glad to admit to the fact....

It can be odd at times, because unlike a live chat room, you don't know who's there and who isn't, but don't let that put you off. I often post and don't get replies for ages, but you can go for a wander around AB and then just drop right back in...Have Fun

Oh and by the way, nice to meet you.

Actually look here down to the last posts. Dot's turned 50, only the other day and a delight to know.

I'm not on here that often at the moment and when I am, it's at odd times..., but If (no...when) I see you, I'll say hi...

Oh and last thing, people here in green are new posters and then you go grey after a certain time.

Unfortunately after someone was trying to upset the apple cart, many were wary of people who were posting and so new folk tend to treated with suspicion. But give it 5 minutes and they'll see you're not a troublemaker...

...sorry to go on.

come over to cb......you'll be accepted straight away.......we're all nice people......i'll see you tonight....
Come over to Chatterbank, we are all a friendly bunch and most certainly not a "secret society" Cherrybomb. Come on in leo :) x
I've only been on Chatterbank for a wee while and I can confirm everyone on it are really nice, friendly people.
Some threads do tend to get a bit exclusive, but CB as a whole isn't and I have never ever seen anyone asked to butt out of even the exclusive looking threads. I am 53, by no means unusual or the oldest member. If you want to start a thread that will pull us adults out of the woodwork, try posting on any of the following...things aint what they used to be...when I was a Teenager....Tv programs of my youth etcet. Most of us keep an eye out for newbies and will report anyone being snotty or rude, but it isn't actually a chatroom in the live conversation sense of the world....maybe a good way to get your e-feet wet though?? and welcome!
Yes come over to CB I will be watching for you to say hi

It is not a secret society...but if your a tinsy bit barmy, it may help lol

Hi leo9902

I only joined AB in Sept, and looked around for a couple of weeks before dipping my toe into a thread in CB. It's all in good fun. I'm 51 btw, and there are people older than me, as well as a lot younger. Pick a thread on a topic you like, and throw in you 2p worth.

No-one bites, although you could get bitten by the CB bug, and find it hard to leave sometimes. It's addictive.

Hope to see you post soon.

I reckon I'm one of the oldest but can recommend CB. I join in and have met some ok people and have a laugh with them. So come on in! :o)
Please, please can i come in too?
