If so, it will contain their parents information at least, it is a while since I taught family history and some of the info has drained from my brain, but Scottish civil registration marriage certificates contain alot more info than ours, I am just too lazy to go check this morning. Anyway, if you have the cert. or can access it on line, you will have alot more info.
Civil reg. in England and Wales only commenced July 1837 and though it was compulsory, failure to comply was not finable for a number of years, and so you may be better going for baptism.
