Jaywalking On The M6?
Not sure if this should be on here or motoring section? On Saturday night/Sunday morning I was driving back from a trip out with friends. We had been to Blackpool for the day. Between junctions 34 and 35 ( travelling north) I pulled out into the middle lane to overtake a large lorry and thought I was having delusions! There was a pair of feet walking across the lane in front of me! Then I saw the lower legs and realised it was a person ambling across the motorway. Whether this person had a death wish or was drunk or whatever I don’t know but it gave me the fright of my life. The lorry just missed him and so did I by a whisker. I’m saying him as I only saw the bottom of him as he was dressed in dark clothes. There was nothing in the outside lane and he was heading towards the central barrier. We got to Burton services and I rang the police. They said they would send a car out to investigate. The lad on the till said it wasn’t the first time either. So if you’re traveling on that stretch of motorway late at night just watch out for stupid jaywalkers. This was on the stretch heading north, not far past the second Lancaster junction. My friend reckoned he was taking a shortcut home as there are houses on the other side of the road. Whatever they were doing they probably won’t make it if they do it again!

There's a dual carraige way near me where the pedestrians have a long walk to cross its as it's a junction so they have walk about 400 yds down one side and then back up the other. The amount of times I've seen people dicing with death trying to cross 8 lanes is remarkable. Then I just think it's natural selection at work.
