Wedding Anniversary Anniversary’s Are They Redundant?
24 Answers
Yesterday was our 47th wedding anniversary. We exchanged cards. We had one from a daughter, nothing, no acknowledgement from the other three.
No congratulations from siblings or anyone. We had a sausage, and a bacon roll to mark the occasion. Question, are wedding anniversary’s now redundant?

We have been disappointed that neither of our children has sent us an anniversary card unless they were invited to the celebrations we held for our 40th and 50th. They must be aware of the date from those two parties. On the other hand we always sent cards to parents and still do for our offspring. Sad!

For our Silver anniversary we booked a whole restaurant for our friends and family and paid over £1,000 which was a lot of money at that time. For our Golden anniversary seven of us went to our favourite restaurant. Its our 53rd this year and we'll probably get a takeway to give Mr BD a night off from cooking. We won't be going out anywhere.
As I've never married, I've no direct experience of having to remember wedding anniversaries but they've never featured greatly in my life anyway. My parents celebrated their silver wedding anniversary (which was the only anniversary I sent them a card or gift for) but I can't remember them even mentioning their wedding anniversary at any other time, yet alone sending cards or buying gifts for each other.
Likewise, I've not got a clue regarding the date when my lad and his wife got married, so I've never sent them an anniversary card or gift.

It was our 29th wedding anniversary at the weekend. I don't think I've ever received a card from family or friends except I think for our 25th. We usually go away for the weekend nearest to the actual day, then OH cooks a nice meal on the day itself. . No cards were sent or received. Cards are a waste of money.
