When You Were Young Did You Have A Pen Pal ?

I had this girl who lived on the Gold Coast in West Africa, I think you could get a pp through the comics of the day like the Valentine, Marylyn etc, we would write air Mail letters to each other but I remember the letters started being a bit demanding with her asking me for things like a Holy Bible ( or Bibble) she called it, then money so I had to stop , did you have a pen pal ?

I did Bobbs. He was a sailor and I can't even remember his name or the name of his ship! Lol.

I did, he was a soldier and all was well for a while and then the letters grew steadily steamier.

Yes I did. He was called Jerry and lived in Webster Groves, St. Louis. He was the same age as me and we wrote to each other for some years, then all of a sudden he stopped writing. In my last letter I asked him about being conscripted for the army and possibly serving in Vietnam. Despite writing many times since, I have had no response. I've looked at his address on Google Earth. It looks very nice, but that is as near as I have got. I still wonder if he served in Vietnam. And I'm wondering about the worst case scenario. I don't think I will ever find out.

I didn't but my sister did for several years. A girl who lived in Great Falls, Montana.

Yes I had a pen pal (Alabama) for over 54 years sadly he passed away
on April 23rd last year, I am still heartbroken.
I have one letter in particular that he wrote to me on the tenth
anniversary of my late husbands death ~ it was beautiful, I do
hope they got to meet in the land beyond.

LOL....lol.....my technique WAS unique..no sharing.
If you want to temporarily write letters to an unknown person whom you would be extremely unlikely to meet, then fine.......the world of "make believe " is not for sqaddy boy.
