Because they’re a barometer of public feeling. And the public feeling is.....Labour are political DoDos.
They're fine in Wales.
You don't seem to understand that elections for the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh Assembly were a little more important than who empties your dustbin.
Looks like Labour has been dumped by English nationalists in England, and up here in Scotland by Scottish nationalists. They just cant win can they?

I feel sure that at one time Municipal Elections only covered maybe one colum in the press and a mention on Tv news , but this one has been going on for 4 days so far and monopolising the Media.
its very important, almost as important as a GE. Its not about who empties your bins, but of course that fact matters to those who's bins need emptying, but who runs the councils, how much money they need to facilitate the running of the council. and so much more.

Judging by the media coverage, this is Boris's way of taking your mind of other, Con Scandals.
i notice your other thread was stopped..and half of it gone, shows you what some mods do, as i don't think that Ed or Spare Ed work here on a weekend. shame because there was some interesting stuff there, some that imparted to you, like why we have a Mayor at all.
what Con scandals?
Gulliver: Read other people's contributions. The Welsh Assembly and Scottish Parliament are important.

Forgot for a second, its not just about emptying your dustbins, its about who has the power to increase your Council tax also.
emmie: Quite right. Fed up with TV pundits referring to Tory 'scandals'. There are allegations. That's it.
the Mayor of London has that dubious honour i believe, though i could be wrong on that score. someone confirm that fact please....
I was with you up until your post at 4.01pm Gulliver.

Generally speaking I couldn’t really give a tinker’s cuss the colour of my local council (although having said that, I haven’t lived anywhere other than a Tory area (council and MP) since I left SE London many moons ago - you could put a blue rosette on a piece of cheddar where I live and it’d win).

16.03 ," what Con scandals" I am not interested where you live , more like what planet do you live on.
earth, unlike you gulliver, who seems to thrive in the ether of boredom.
gully: "Why are these elections getting so much time on Tv and media." - PMSL it'd be ok if Labour were doing well!
DD, that's funny, a piece of cheddar, i can see that would be the case in some true Blue constituencies.
Council tax is due to rise above the rate of inflation, by 10 percent,
so says the recent report - so that Mayor Khans part of the CT dealt with, so nothing to do with Boris at all.

16.02 , in answer to your post , it is fairly obvious which party the new weekend Mod supports.
