Nightmare Neighbours!!

My neighbours to the right are absolutely lovely, both aged late 60’s I would say. Then there is their son! Well one of their sons. He’s mid thirties I would say, ex drug addict, tho seems to be clear now. He lives locally and comes round to their house every single morning, stays all day, and goes home in the evening. Well, he spends all day in their garden, and spends most of the day doing this disgusting thing of clearing his throat of phlegm, heaving it into his mouth , then spitting it out! (I hope to god into a tissue!!).It honestly makes you want to retch just hearing it - I had my inlaws over the other day when he was doing it and they looked mortified!! It’s not just occasionally , it’s all day.
Anyone else have any neighbours who do things that drive them mad??

He obviously has a problem, but could do it more discretely into tissue.
Would he be the sort to give you a load of verbal abuse if you approached him about it? Or, you could have a quiet word with his parents?

Thankfully not.

My neighbours on one side have a very young child and I've heard a peep of him/her.

Not now, but about three years ago I had a young couple living next door and they played loud music pretty much 24/7 and all I could hear was the bass beat all day long. I even took to wearing ear plugs during the day to block it out. I asked them to keep it down and they did for a short time, but it always crept up again. I was beginning to despair when suddenly after about four months they were evicted because they had a dog and apparently they were told 'no pets'. I've had great neighbours living there even since.

I don't have nightmare neighbours but it depends on what mood I'm in, If it's good I find it funny. My neighbours dog spends most of the day barking and my neighbour spends his day telling the dog to shut up.

Only have neighbours on one side as we live on an end house, they were a Godsend during the first severe lockdown in March 2020, a very young couple, no children

department. they would have sorted it out for you, takes a few weeks though.

I did consider that Espresso, but I knew someone else who had done it a couple of years before with a noisy neighbour she had and apart from it taking many, many weeks to resolve, she also had a hard time with the neighbours because they knew she had reported them. She was literally on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I didn't want to have to go through all that as well. She was lucky in the end, they did a moonlight flit owing weeks of rent ... !

We need earplugs because of neighbours on on side - but it's not their fault and we're truly sorry for them having to cope. Their youngest son (5) is severely autistic. Not quite non-communicative, but a nightmare to live with - they can't go on holiday, even though they bought a caravan and accustomed him to it, because as soon as the surroundings were different he threw screaming tantrums and ran away.

They are trustworthy and pleasant people, even help with our snow-shifting in winter, but there are times when the furious screaming from the child gets somewhat trying to live with. We cross fingers and hope for the best, at least the boy now recognises us and doesn't sound off if we leave our house and he sees us. One day they'll have to stop him running round in just underpants if he doesn't want to wear trousers - that could be fun. :(
