by the massive world wide opposition to his aggression will be like a cornered rat and in losing control is liable to lash out using the most dangerous weapons at his disposal without though of the consequences. Finland has just announced it is sending thousands of weapons to Ukraine. A cornered rat is dangerous.

Whilst I understand that any meaningful action will be used by Putin as an excuse to retaliate to western aggression it feels like POTUS is neutered and mute when generally the west look to him to take the lead
Currently hoping for a Russian general to do the decent thing and draw the world back from the brink

About the best we have from him is "I decided to launch a special military operation. Its goal is to protect people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the regime in Kyiv for eight years. And for this we will pursue the demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine, as well as bringing to justice those who committed numerous bloody crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation.
