Not interested in debate about the rights and wrongs about
Muslim women wearing a face veil, each to their own as long as it applies to everyone.
If they want to deprive themselves of Vitamin D then thats their choice.
But a story in my local rag

How on earth are you supposed to see if anyone with a face covering is
buying anything age restricted?
(knives for example)
Whats to prevent me dressing in a black gown and a face covering and buying alcohol even though I might be only 14 say?
(Once worked with a young muslim woman who actually bought me a 4 pack of lagers for my birthday...wondered how she got them only years later! She was only about 18/19 at the time)
Couldnt give a stuff if you want to cover your face or not but
But how do you go on about buying age restricted items if you refuse to show your face?

Was once in Poundland with my son when he was about 15.
Had a self conscious head injury and was wearing a hoodie for a while.
Was asked by a member of staff to take it down.
Got to the till and was served buy a FULL face covering, head covering muslim lady.
As I said, I couldnt give a fig about what fashion accessories you choose to wear (No compulsion in Islam to cover yourself)
But it caused my son some discomfort.

I disagree. There are certain circumstances in this country where one is required to show one's face for identification. There is no reason why special facilities should be provided to enable this.
Rather than being indulged in this way, Muslims should be told that this is the way it is. They either show their faces as required or the service cannot be provided to them.
On a wider note, the idea that women must cover their faces is ridiculous and offensive to men. As I understand it (though have not studied it too deeply due to the idiocy of the practice) Muslim women must cover themselves because men cannot be trusted to control their lust. If that is true, I find it deeply offensive.

If you are working in a part of the country, and you cannot understand the local accent, then you have the problem, not the patient. Refusing to speak to a relative (who presumably has the same ascent) just confirms the doctor is not qualified to work in that area.

not really, Canary, they just cover their faces to show respect to God. Men are expected to do the same, but by growing beards. Some Jewish women wear wigs. Christian women used to be expected to wear hats in church.
I don't know quite why deities are expected to be so upset by human heads; but I don't think it's got anything to do with lust.

If this is the same story I read a few years ago, and I think it is, it was slightly different.
The lady took her veil off without demur. Unfortunately her SIL was in the room* and happened to mention it to the lady's husband. It was at that point (understandably ;-)) the SHTF.
*She might have been in the waiting room and heard about it, either way I don't care, save my fans piling in.
Seems it wasn't so much the wrath of God, jno. She had far more pressing terrestrial concerns. Nice diversion into the world of fashion, though.
