Ich....you may well be correct, BUT as you said, the question was "is Liverpool" a dangerous place to live.
The OP is not asking for comparison cities.
Hmm, I think he is by implication.
Often the crimes appearing in the statistics are due to the sorts of people mixing together - drug dealers/users, rival gangs etc. It's when innocent bystanders get affected that it hits the news & causes alarm amongst the generally law-abiding populace.

A guy I knew was knifed to death by a mugger while on holiday - In Mongolia!

I wouldn’t live there. The Scouse accent alone would drive me daft.
Naomi the slow drawl of the woman police officer making a statement last night on tv was driving me to distraction.
Agree - used to have to go there as a schoolkid to a specialist dentist on Rodney St. Hated the visits as mouthpieces and dental wires didn't go well with rugby and despite being an OB of my school, Dr. Pratt could not understand. One of my nephews loved his time at the Uni though.....and, for sqad, I visited the School of Tropical Medicine there and that was fascinating, a third of the group barfing by half way through.....Their 'sell' was about attracting those going onto study medicine to consider tropical medicine too.
DTC worked in Rodney street for 15 years, couldn't wait to go home.
fine looking street with all those Georgian porticos - on smoke-black brick buildings, their natural colour brick-red! Rodney street.....as the locals would say, 'ey, 'e, sqad works up thuz in de posh rodney street.'
DTC...well, they had to have someone to lower the tone LOL.
Yes, I remember hearing the screams from the medical consultancy next door!

More seriously, I think it was No 51 that I went to on the south side of the street....
DTC my consulting rooms were on the North side of the street, can't remember the number but it was the opposite end to the cathedral.

The screams that you heard were when they patients saw their bill.
Sorry DTC my rooms were on the South side.
Looks different to when I was there Zacs.
What, electric street lighting and motor cars? ;-)
The dental bills were high enough, my eldest sister and I treated to the torture of braces and then my parents would then go onto Manchester for the mater to burn cash in Kendall-Milnes - and agony from the tightened wire/clips on the way back to the Lakes, no Ibuprofen or anything like that given.....
Well Zacs no sign of the horse drawn buses or the prostitutes on the corner ;-)
I'm sure the latter are still there after dark, Sqad.
Liverpool Council went into search some of the buildings after complaints about illegal erections.
and during the day Zacs..........a friend told me.
