'OF the 20 or so people nominated by Boris Johnson to become members of the House of Lords, one name in particular caught my eye: Ross Kempsell.

He is 30 years old and, if accepted by the Lords appointments commission, would be one of the youngest people ever to receive a life peerage.

Those unfamiliar with the inner workings of Westminster are not likely to have heard of Kempsell. I am sure he is a nice and decent person. I have never met him and know little about him other than that he used to be a journalist for, among other outlets, TalkRadio, before working in politics for a while during the Johnson administration.

I repeat. Kempsell is 30 years old. Yet, if he enters the Lords, this young man will have been given a job for life, with the ability to claim expenses and receive something like £300 every time he attends the Lords.'

It's true, I did stand by him for a long time, but in the end it's hard to defend the indefensible & the minuses (as the OP above) start to outweigh the plusses.

I'm afraid his, "Hasta la vista, baby" is a bit of a forlorn hope.
