As usual, I did my monthly history and browsing deletion plus scan and, for the first time, I could not access my Answerbank account. I did it all again to see if it would work but it doesn’t. It just keeps saying “Oops something went wrong with this account.” I can’t access my profile or post on it. I asked Answerbank for advice and they said they would get back to me but didn’t. I can still access my account on my IPhone luckily which is how I can post this. Any suggestions? I don’t want to lose my account or Avatar

This must be very frustrating for someone who does their level best to keep maintaining a PC on a regular basis. Kustard, sorry I don't have a solution but I do hope you can resolve it. Disappointing that AB has not replied as yet...

I am not good with technology but I think that you have logged out of AB and will just need to log-in again.
If you have cleared history and probably cookies etc you will need to log back in. Try that first and come back if still an issue.

Your avatar is not held by AB, it is on Gravatar.
Try a different browser if you are sure you have tried your correct log in details

Obviously I know to log in again which I have done literally dozens of times with the correct email and password and this is when the message comes up saying “oops etc”. I have tried another browser too Barry. Has ANYONE got the answer?
just make another account with a different e-mail addy
If you can get into your account okay by using another device then your problem must be in your own PC/Laptop.

Can you get a screen shot of the error message?
Could it be that your CapsLock has got stuck on?
One possibility is that your browser has stored your AB password but, for some reason, its become corrupt.

If you're using Chrome, see here
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95606?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

Click on 'Show, edit, delete or export saved passwords' to find out how to delete your AB password.
You haven’t said which browser you are using.

You could try in private mode - if you let us know your browser and we can give how to instructions.

Thanks for all your comments but I have obviously tried all those things AND I WANT TO KEEP THE SAME ACCOUNT!!! I have a friend who has gone to the TTs and I know she will sort it when she gets back. Thanks anyway
I assume the browser on your iPhone (Safari default) is different from the browser on your PC.
Try updating your PCs browser.
Try a different browser.
Open on your phone and copy the url and email it to yourself, then open the received email on your PC and click on the link.
Check your PC has a wifi/broadband signal and is connected. Your iPhone might be connecting over 4G.
Hi Kustard,

The reason you're unable to access your account is because you're using the wrong password. You can reset your password here: https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/user/request_password_reset.php

If you're able to email me from the email address associated with your AnswerBank account then I can change your password for you manually.
It's usually the obvious things that cause the problem. Glad it's been solved

FA Spare Ed. The problem is still not resolved because I have been away on holiday and not seen my technical friend yet. I followed your link where you said you would reset my password and put in my email address. However I haven’t a clue how you type in that wavy security code. Help!!!
You have to wave frantically at the screen until the webpage notices you.
What do you mean by 'wavy security code'? Is it a symbol like this ~?
captcha probably barry
I hate captcha. Really hate them.
the picture ones drive me mental - how many squares contain busses, press on the one that contains bikes and so on. I often find because they are american there is just enough ambiguity in the question and pictures to make me have to do it several times
