a few years ago, i was taken round the mountain course by a representative of one of the companies that prepares the public infrastructure for racing (erecting course markers, protective shrouding for road signs, barriers, kerb marking, etc.). rode round in their van and at legal road speeds it took about an hour. it's just insane that the bikes do the same distance in about a quarter of the time.

the rep had plenty of TT knowledge and anecdotes, and on the way round pointed out where this rider or that rider had come to grief, and how some of the course landmarks had got their names.

No pot holes on the Isle of Man, great for driving.
