Is It Wrong That I Feel Bad For A Girl Who Attempted To Stab Her Friend To Death?

This happend in 2014, but I learned about it a few days ago. There were these two 12 year old girls who were obsessed with slender man, and thought he was real. One of the girls had schizophrenia, morgan geyser is her name, and she thought that if she didn't kill her friend then slenderman would murder her family. Also, I guess they wanted to be slendermans servants. So they luer their friend into a forest, and morgan stabs her 19 times, while the other girl encouraged it. They told the victim that they were getting help, but never did. Then they ran away looking for slendermans mansion or something. They caught caught and morgan was sentenced to 40 years in a mental hospital. She asked to be released a few months ago, but the judge denied it. The other girl was released and will be monitored until she's 37. Anyways, what morgan did was horrible, and the victem will likely be traumatized for life but I can't help but feel sorry for morgan. She was just a 12 year old with schizophrenia, and she actually thought that selnderman was real. What do you think?

I would feel exactly as you do. 

The girl who stabbed her friend did something very very wrong, and that wrong needs to be addressed by the law. 

But there are mitigating circumstances.  

If she has a serious mental illness like shizophrenia, perhaps did not fully recognise the consequences of her actions.  

We cannot judge her, we need to leave that to the experts, both medical and legal.

yes after feeling bad about a murder ( say the three little girls) - I feel sorry / bad about the fella what did it who I think is mad / mentally ill. Then I feel sorry for the dead girls again
