Bishops Stortford

I am hoping to go paintballing in Bishops Stortford for my birthday. Not really sure what the place itself is like though - are there things to do in the town, or any pubs that we could go to when not paintballing?

Stortford itself is a fairly busy town with cinema, 10 pin bowling and a variety of pubs to cater for most tastes.

I quite like Bishops Stortford. It's one of those places which is big enough to be interesting but small enough to retain some character.
The official guide is here:

There are some suggestions for where to eat (and a list of pubs) here:

A list of leisure activities is here:

(Note that some activities are quite some distance away).
If there's any chance that you could arrange some cheap accommodation overnight (see here for an accommodation list: http://www.bishopsstortford.org/accommodation.htm ), and if there's a couple of weeks or so before your visit, then the greatest attraction that Bishop's Stortford has to offer is its proximity to Stansted Airport. There are lots of places you can visit for a day trip, often for only 1p each way! (OK, it'll be about 30 quid return with the taxes but still a bargain). See the Ryanair website for further information. (If this idea takes your fancy, just post again for some suggestions of where to go - Copenhagen, via Malmo, would be near to the top of my list).
