Surely your builder would advise you which is best. I thought you had a builder & it was all done by now. Anyhow what's wrong with using bricks & getting it insulated?? Remember to put in an air vent.

well Sharon - I had 3 builders gave me a price on the phone without viewing, so don't like that.

one other builder kept saying he would be coming coming coming and I am still waiting on him

my dream would be that it could be made up and set back in my yard with own plumbers electricians and whoever to plumb it in.

Am I misunderstanding you JJ because it sounds as if you want a separate building at the back of your house.  Is that correct?

Question Author

No i hope to get it attached to my back door with a lobby/hall. But anyway I will contact a person this week who should be able to help me.

thanks

Oh I see, thanks for explaining.  Good luck I hope you get it sorted before the winter weather takes hold.

I do hope it is not one of my hairbrained schemes    LOL

Do you not have a shower , toilet and sink indoors already?

JJ, is it so you don't have to climb the stairs to use a bathroom?

This is what I'm not sure about Barsel...

If it is an extension from your back door how will you get in to your back yard/garden?

Barsel, yes, JJ is having trouble climbing the stairs and refuses to have a stair lift or a toilet under the stairs or anywhere else inside the house downstairs.

The saga continues - I doubt it will ever get done...

JJ - you're not related to Abbeylee are you?

wrt the OP - building with insulated breezeblock with an external rendered finish would probably be the best/quickest/cheapest build method.

It may not need planning permission but would need to comply with building regs. It will need heating, ventilation, insulation, electrics, plumbing and connecting to the drains and sewer. If the door is off the kitchen then it could be refused if it blocks an escape in case of fire.

//hope to get it attached to my back door with a lobby/hall.//

Sounds like a normal extension where you exit the present back door into a "hallway" having doors out to the garden and into the new shower room. Quite a standard arrangement.

Maybe get on to Nick Knowles & the DIY SOS / Big Build squad?

🥱 why would heating be needed in what is basically an outdoor dunny/shower Barry?

Let's make this as difficult as possible 🙄

Well I presume JJ won't want to shower in cold water & without heating the plumbing will probably freeze up at some point in the winter possibly resulting in burst pipes.

Good morning, I think you need to go back over the answers you have previously received on this topic and make nots of them.

Then seek clarification on anything you are not sure off.

The quotes you have received are then in writing or just over the telephone?

A quote is not worth a grain of salt unless written.
