I Thought We Were Increasing Defence...

Have been told by my kitchen supplier that all the quotes for my new kitchen cabinets have been sent to the builder/project manager owing to GDPR. I was trying to find out the price myself, to do a comparison with other companies. (I know that I can contact my builder). Is the GDPR information correct?

But, as Barry says, it is a ridiculous claim. I is quite obvious that GDPR has no place in this particular conundrum. It is designed to protect individuals from having their personal data released to other parties without their specific consent. It is blindingly obvious that the party who might eventually pay for the goods has as much, or more right to the information as anybody.
"Data protection" is used by people who are poorly trained in its principles and whose employers cannot be bothered to educate them properly. Far easier to instructt tthem to simply say "Can't tell you/speak to you/release information/anything else a caller might want" than to instruct them properly.
There is also a suspicion that in this case the prices quoted to the builder/project manager may not be too adjacent to the prices the buider/project manager eventually charges the customer.
