The cathedral in Turin was described as the world's third largest church on TV today. Assuming that St. Peter's in Rome is the largest, which is 2nd?

It's St Paul's Cathedral, London.
The site also confirms your theory that St Peter's in the Vatican is the largest. It doesn't however agree with the producers of the TV programme. Turin doesn't appear in the list!

According to Guinness (the book, not the black stuff's after-effects), it is actually the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace - in the Ivory Coast.
