I'm trying to find out if there was an artist or architect by the name of JM Inglis. I think that we live in the early part of the 20th century apart from that, I know little else...

According to this site

there were a couple of J Inglis working as architects at the turn of the century.
There are also a couple of Inglis' working as architects at present including a Ms J Inglis for ARP Lorimer Associates so they could be descendents.
