New budget and families

Yet again Gordon Brown has increased child benefit/tax credits etc in the budget. If people choose to have children, why can't they just pay for them themselves? What about the people without children who don't put extra strain on the NHS, environment, over population.....

Over population is NOTY an issue in this country. Infact, with an ever aging population, we actually need MORE children to be born to start paying taxes and look after the oldies. So actually people who don't have kids could be seen as selfish and not contributing sufficiently to the future of their country. Or maybe not, but it entirely depends on your point of view, doesn't it Denise? I'm not sure how having children puts extra strain on the NHS. Again, much of that is caused by an aging population. You won't be old though, will you? So you won't ever put extra strain on the nhs and need looking after I guess.

Just one question for you, i'm 44 with two children, never been out of work, contribute like other workers to N.I every week, even tho not been to the hospital or doc's for 20 odd years, but am i asking for a rebate on my N.I. why should i pay for the likes of you then, assuming you've been to the hospital/docs, its not fair is it? but we have to, like you have to help out child benefit/tax

Actually I'm a dog person.

I did start it off in parenting but thought that would just be asking for trouble. Obviously we need children but I just don't see why tax payers have to pay for other people's children.

And I meant over population of the world rather than the UK.
