I can't see a 'Do not travel' warning on the FCO website, but they do state that there is a high threat from terrorism. Not sure how this affects your legal position with your travel agent.

Egypt gets about 6 million tourists a year.

Even being pessimistic your odds are about 100,000 to one against.

Your odds of being killed in a road accident are about 18,000 to one this year

My advice to you is go to Egypt but don't drive!

we went in January/February when there was a scare and a slight earthquake!!! its absolutely fine...you are very secure and safe. we stayed at the ritz carlton and you have to show a pass to get in the hotel....thats the same of most of the hotels there...it is just as safe as anywhere else, and you will have a fantastic time....my dad is egyptian and i go with jake the peg dont drive!!!!

the taxis are cheap and easy and your hotel should have their own taxis...

just enjoy yourself....my dad goes every year and there is no problem whatsoever....the travel agent is correct, its no longer a risk as the security is very very tight.

i warn you tho it will be boiling at this time of year!!!!
